My name is Jessica and I’m the one behind Jess Mayfield Photography. I am based in Sherwood Park, Alberta. I love photographing love. 

I’m a crazy horse lady & if I had to choose a favourite subject, horses are it. There is something so magical about them. Whether it be under saddle at home or at a show, fine art portraits or photos of you with your horse, I’d love to photograph it. Whether you ride western, jump, do dressage, it doesn’t matter. We horse girls are something special and I’d love to capture that special relationship you and your horse have.

Outside of photography I have started my own dog training & behaviour business, Duchess Dog Training, so as you can guess, dogs are another favourite subject of mine. I’m very comfortable working around fearful or reactive dogs who can be challenging to photograph. Don’t let your dog’s behaviour issues stop you from including them in your family photos , we can work together to make it happen.

Summer 2021 I became a momma to a beautiful boy, Everett. You really can’t understand the connection with a child until you have one (I didn’t see how I could love anything more than my dogs but… here I am!) & this has sparked a new fondness for photographing children & families, especially mothers as we are often the ones behind the camera and don’t get many photos of us with our children.

Nervous about being in front of the camera? I make it as easy as possible. I want to get natural interactions between subjects so your relationships really shine through in the finish product. Not sure what to wear? I can help you there. Where should be take the photos? I can suggest locations too. Together we can create memories worth hanging on your wall. My style is generally bright with true vibrant colours.

A few more tidbits about me- I love the ocean & will take any excuse to spend a week on Vancouver Island. Throughout my school years I wanted to be a marine biologist! I love the mountains almost as much as the ocean, & often question why I still live in the prairies. My favourite season is fall- I only wish it lasted longer. I love exploring nature with my dogs & son, & usually find some photo location gems this way. I ride dressage & if I’m not out with my dogs then I’m at the barn with my horse :) Love is love is love, and I support the LGBTQ+ community.
